My Mark IV has three setscrews in the top of the upper which can be removed to mount a picatinny rail. The tapped hole in the one nearest the rear sight is drilled completely through the gun exposing the recoil spring beneath it. I had to remove it as it interfered with the cycling of the bolt when it drifted down iinwith no stop. Anyone else have this problem? Poor craftsmanship for sure.

The screw for mounting the picatinny is not the problem. It's the filler screw that you put in when no picatinny rail is mounted.
I just pulled my MKIV down and looked at the back screw - the hole goes all the way through. My PIC rail mounting screw goes all the way to the bottom of the hole and does not interfere with bolt travel. Usually a filler screw only goes flush with the top of the hole. If yours is flush but still into the bolt travel, grind off some of the bottom of the screw and blue Loctite it.
I tried locktite but the filler screw works its way down too far. I'll clean it up good and try again.
Had the same problem with filler screw (part 5) closest to rear sight. Pistol would not cycle properly on 9/13/23 Filler screw works its way to guide rod assembly part 8. Not good.
In an unrelated problem mag insertion is not consistent. I am left handed. Not my fault
. To fully insert mag, with pistol in my left hand, sometimes I have to press mag away from me to fully insert mag. Is there a problem with the part 11 mag latch?
The front site fell off. Blue loctite secured front site screw part 3.
These problems should not occur with a new pistol first used in July, 2023 bot new January 7, 2023.
I will call Ruger.

Per Martha, this filler screw is intentionally a "drill through hole". Back out screw 1/4 turn. My additional step: Check inside barrell/receiver that screw is not protruding and allows bolt to operate smoothly. Blue loctite screw.
Suggestion: A screw with a head would prevent this problem. Probably wouldn't look cool but we could get use to it in favor of solving the problem.

Make this filler headed screw of stainless steel. Would graduate to cool.
