Here's some comparison photos of the Standard mag, PG-LCP Extension, and the PG-LCP2 Extension

That is the first thing I thought when I saw the pics. HUGE gap at the rear of the mag, looks cheesy in my book. Glad some are having success with these. I think I'll stick to six and add the grip extension...22lover said:Even when seated properly, there are gaps around the butt of the gun that look like Pearce didn't manufacture with the proper angles.
Let's see some pics of this custom job ;D I'm interested 'cause I hate sending stuff back, I'd rather play with the extensions to get them to work properlynetmindr said:Ordered 2 of these last week in spite of the bad reviews. They do seem like Pearce did a poor job in designing this product. Not only does it not fit right out of the box but the angles do not line up with the grip. They also failed to trim off any extra plastic around the edges of the mold. I even had to run some fine grit sandpaper through the slots where it attaches to the magazine to remove the extra.
However, I did a couple of mods on mine and they seem to work pretty well. Haven't shot with them yet tho so I'll update after I do.
What I did was to sand off the back of the extension just enough to keep it from binding against the extension on the bottom back of Elsie's grip. I did it at an angle as the top of the extension was the only place that contacts it. I really took off too much as there is more than enough room now, but I left enough plastic so that the small tabs still 'catch' on the back of the magazine to keep it in place. This allows the magazine to drop free easily when pressing the mag release.
I also noticed that the 8th round was a very tight fit and that there was no hole in the bottom of the extension to allow for the peg on the bottom of the floor plate to sit in. So I drilled a hole in the bottom and it gave it just enough extra room to be able to easily load that last round.
Looks kinda funny hanging out of the bottom of the grip but much better than the 10 round ProMag with no grip extension on it and it almost feels like a subcompact grip now. I've carried it like that a couple of times to get a feel for concealability and had no problems other than the end of the extension will tend to print slightly more, but unless you have small pockets, it doesn't seem to be an issue. In fact, the longer grip makes it easier for me to get a grip on it to get it out of my UM pocket holster.
