I ordered 2, Got them, installed them on 2 Ruger Mags. One would only hold 8 rounds (not +2) and the other would not even latch in the gun. I sent an email, got a reply about store credit, so I sent them back. What garbage! This was the first gun accessory I bought that didn't work. And I have bought many.

I for see the problem down the road, not with the extensions as they can be fitted if need be, but using the standard 6 round magazne spring in an 8 round magazine IMO is just not going to be a workable thing. It might work at first but this is a very very marginal success. I can only speak from experience that my 6 round kahr PM9 magazine spring and my 7 round kahr PM9 magazine springs are different lenghts and that is just one round, now were putting two more rounds in a magazine and expecting the magazine spring from our 6 rounder to take up the slack.

If it don't work right in ur lcp, I would not blame the extension as much as I would a shorter spirng.

There is a sure cure but I am not sure if one can get them from kt company either. they make a 10 round kt 32 magazine. Now I know full and well that 10 round spring would indeed work right in the plus 2 pearce extension.

Also, this is just a SWAG (scientific wild ass guess), but wolffs offers the 10% more strength kt 32 calibler magazine springs. They would be certaily stronger than the Ruger lcp spring you have in there now.

Just my 2 Cents worth..

I did not jump on the band wagon with this, just because it's too new of a product. I do have a question, if some wanted more rounds than what the LCP offers why did they buy this gun why not a PM9 or P11? Everyone knew how many rounds the LCP held before they purchased it. I think primarily it is a BUG or a drop in the pocket going to the store gun or even a personal defense gun not a Hollywood shootout weapon,I think if you need more rounds buy more mags, they are small enough to where you can easily carry 3-4 of them without any problem,so why the +2 and not a few extra mags? A +2 verses another mag at +6 is no contest, does it come down to having the latest and greatest accessory? I'm not bashing anyone who bought one, I'm just curious because my thinking is to get more mags and carry them...

I agree, a spare factory magazine should suffice. although when I ownedmy kt 32 I sure liked that 10 round magazijne for range fun use, and made one hell of a back up magazine to.. I think Pearch should have included the proper magazine spring to go along with it, IMO>

?? 6+2=8 :) Sorry about your experience with them Vinny....I agree with what others have said about using the stock spring, however mine seems to be working ok so far....time will tell I guess. I fiddled around with mine to get it fitting better, in my opinion it's looking pretty good. I see things like the poor fit as a challenge more than anything else, the wifey says it's because I'm obsessive-compulsive.... ;D

Even when seated properly, there are gaps around the butt of the gun that look like Pearce didn't manufacture with the proper angles.
That is the first thing I thought when I saw the pics. HUGE gap at the rear of the mag, looks cheesy in my book. Glad some are having success with these. I think I'll stick to six and add the grip extension...

Finally got some pics of what I did with my extension...I'm liking it :D

I used a piece of packing foam soaked with epoxy...

I'm using this mag when I'm home and as a backup when I'm out and about. It makes the little LCP a sweetheart to shoot, really drops the felt recoil having a grip big enough to grip... :D
Anyone want to sell me their extension? I'd like to do this to another mag.....
Mike

Great! Let us know how it works out for you Bill. I haven't had any problem with the stock spring yet, although the last round coming out of the mag feels a little wimpy when pushing them with your thumb....
Thanks,
Mike

I put one of the extensions on a Ruger mag (as I posted previously) and took it out this weekend to shoot. I ran 24 rounds through it and had no issues with performance. It was very difficult to insert the mag in the magwell. I found that when I locked the slide open the mag went in much easier. All said and done, I would not use it for carry and will probably remove it and get rid of it and the one I have not used. I would not want to be fumbling with it in a self defense situation.

I've got 2 spare mags with the Pearce +2 extensions. No other mods, so far they work flawlessly. Butt-ugly, and concealability issues - I carry Elsie with regular Pearce finger extension, and carry the pair of +2 mags in my back pocket as backup.

Thanks guys,

I would have purchased the mag extender had I not read your comments and seen the pictures. I don't like how it looks or fits and have therefore decided to purchase an extra mag instead. This is a great site and reference source and I for one appreciate it.

Ordered 2 of these last week in spite of the bad reviews. They do seem like Pearce did a poor job in designing this product. Not only does it not fit right out of the box but the angles do not line up with the grip. They also failed to trim off any extra plastic around the edges of the mold. I even had to run some fine grit sandpaper through the slots where it attaches to the magazine to remove the extra.

However, I did a couple of mods on mine and they seem to work pretty well. Haven't shot with them yet tho so I'll update after I do.

What I did was to sand off the back of the extension just enough to keep it from binding against the extension on the bottom back of Elsie's grip. I did it at an angle as the top of the extension was the only place that contacts it. I really took off too much as there is more than enough room now, but I left enough plastic so that the small tabs still 'catch' on the back of the magazine to keep it in place. This allows the magazine to drop free easily when pressing the mag release.

I also noticed that the 8th round was a very tight fit and that there was no hole in the bottom of the extension to allow for the peg on the bottom of the floor plate to sit in. So I drilled a hole in the bottom and it gave it just enough extra room to be able to easily load that last round.

Looks kinda funny hanging out of the bottom of the grip but much better than the 10 round ProMag with no grip extension on it and it almost feels like a subcompact grip now. I've carried it like that a couple of times to get a feel for concealability and had no problems other than the end of the extension will tend to print slightly more, but unless you have small pockets, it doesn't seem to be an issue. In fact, the longer grip makes it easier for me to get a grip on it to get it out of my UM pocket holster.

Let's see some pics of this custom job ;D I'm interested 'cause I hate sending stuff back, I'd rather play with the extensions to get them to work properly

IMHO, the entire idea of the LCP is for a very compact gun that is easy to conceal therefore the Pearce extension isn't for concealed carry. It is however great for the range where you might want to shoot a couple extra rounds between loading, and if reliable, a possibility for carrying a backup mag.

The one I got does fit snuggly in the LCP because of the tabs on the back but I don't have any problem with insertion or retention. It sometimes feels "catchy" when loading the 6th round but performed flawlessly otherwise. Based on my experience I'd have no qualms using it as a backup mag.

P.S. I'm not worried about what it looks like as long as it does the job so the gap behind the magazine does not bother me.

Yeah, I'm not to impressed with these +2 extensions. My wife and I took the LCP out today and we had a couple failures to feed because of the +2 extension not fitting properly. When we got home, I filed the back of the extension some, but it still didn't fit right. I finally just cut off the 2 little tabs on the back. Now the mag inserts like normal and falls normal. I'll have to take it back out for a test fire and function another day. One thing, though; now the extension slides a little bit, but not enough to be detrimental, just annoying. I can fix that easy enough...stay tuned.
