"Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin'.

I agree. My CCW instructor (and friend) told me it's not the police department's job to protect me. It's to arrest people who have already broken the law.

My reason to carry is a daily 78 mile trip with my wife { one way } to work, at 2 am on a road that runs through the Arizona mountains with NO lights. towns ,traffic or emergency help for most of the trip. I could write a book of the stuff I've seen over the 14 years we've made this trip !!!

+1 ragu1macrider. A person should print that on a small card and hand it to anybody that questions your reason to carry. Those reasons, the grand child and because it is your RIGHT is more then enough!

Short version of the incident 3 years ago I caught a young man trying to break in my house, Held him(without a gun) until the Sheriff arrived. After it was all said and done the sheriff came back and told me he was wanted in two states for 22 counts of breaking and entering and theft. I went and got my CC permit and more training and now carry wherever it is legal.
