Just wondering if anybody is using +P ammo and what brand in their LCP. Also how much difference in felt recoil? I shot some +P Buffalo Bore in my 45 long colt and the difference was daylight and dark. It turned an already pretty mean load into a hand bruising ultra wicked...I don't know if I want to shoot that again load!

probaby been discussed many times but there really is no true +P 380 ammo. many label it that way as a add hype but industry has no standards in 380 for +P, Why I cannot tell you. Definitely some ammo is hotter than others, so is the hottest +P,???. I guess if Buffalo bullets wants to label it that way, its OK...

so you'll definitely have some brands of ammo that is hotter than others in 380.

buffalo bore, speer, powrball, and doubletap i find to be too harsh to shoot. wwb/silvertips, dpx, and tap are average. hornady critical defense is very tame and is my atf. haven't shot the ranger.

personally.

There is no such thing as .380 +P ammo since there are no SAAMI standards for .380 +P. Buffalo Bore has taken "literary license" by using the term. Suffice to say BB is hot stuff and expect accelerated wear if you shoot a lot of it. Having said that, it is a very impressive round with energy levels rivaling that of a .38 Special +P out of the diminutive LCP. Not too shabby.

I looked at that Hornady load at Cabela's and the muzzle velocity is exactly the same as their "standard" XTP load. Same bullet, yada yada. Just has that coating on the case, NBD IMO. I'd definately buy the Speer Gold-Dot load before buying the TAP load as I believe the penetration AND expansion to be better than the XTP in this chambering. Besides, it's also on sale right now at Cabela's for $15.99/ box.

I've shot Cor-Bon JHP thru mine and I will attest that it IS more potent than the factory Hornady and Winchester loads. Recoil wasn't punishing, but you can tell the difference between it and "standard" loads.
