so my LCP is new, I havent fired it yet but i was loading magazines up with gold dots and pulling the slide back and releasing it to load a round into the pipe...Some times it will not load. Looks like the nose of the bullet gets caught on the feed ramp. if i pull back again and release it usually loads. Is this a break in issue? or is this a hint of things to come on the range...BTW was recalled and repaired.

Something to try...lock the slide back, insert the mag and then release the slide. That more closely mimics how the slide will work when firing. Chances are your LCP will be more smooth after you shoot it some, you may have to polish the feedramp. I hand load the 90gr Gold Dots and I haven't had any feed problems with it, but then, I polished the feedramp before I even shot mine...I'm just anal that way :D

I would just trip the slide with the release button. If it feeds the round ok that way I think you just need to shoot your pistol some (wait a minute, that was a stupid statement, I think you need to shoot your LCP a lot anyway, no excuses needed :D)
Let us know how it works out for you,

Mike what COL are you loading that Gold Dot at, is it what Speer says in manual or have you found a better COL for the LCP ? I'm gonna bail on the Gold Saber and load the GDHP as the GS shoots too low in my gun.

Thanks....Pete
I can't remember the length, I'll have to look it up tonight when I get home. I do remember if you use Speer's COL the round won't even fit in the mag. I loaded mine as long as I could and still have it feed through the mag. I use Unique powder and through my Chrony I'm getting 1024fps with no signs of excessive pressure, although it does tend to sting my hand a bit

Yeah, that's why I asked as it sounded kinda long. I'm gonna try some AA#7 and W-231 I think. I have Unique on hand also, are you using Speer's data or Alliant's ?
I'm using Speer's data, but bewarned...Kraigster and I have been comparing specs and Speer's loadings appear to be quite a bit hotter than anyone else's. That said, I'm under the max listed in Speer's with no pressure signs WITH MY PISTOL, your pistol may be/is different than mine, always start at the bottom and work up. No kabooms allowed!
Mike

P.S. Just measured one of my GD loads, measures .965

I've compared Speer's data with Lyman's and agree 100% Speer's is pretty warm indeed. Thanks for the COL spec, I have some Buffalo Bore GDHP coming and was gonna mic that as well. I think AA#7 might be a bit lower in pressure than Unique, have had good luck with it in 10mm also. Meter's better IME but I'll share some data when things warm up and I get rolling.I found a source for 95gr Remington FMJ at a tolerable price so that's where I'm gonna start.

How much Unique are you using to get that 1024 FPS? 4 grains with a 95 Gr. bullet only gets me 865 FPS or so. Thanks.

I've decided that it's best for me not to post load data that I use, I don't want the responsibility of causing a kaboom in someone else's pistol. With that said, I am under max, and every chronograph will read differently. I'm using a Shooting Chrony Beta Master, 65 degree temp, 2500 feet elevation, a 90 grain bullet, using R-P brass. So you see there are a lot of variables involved, but I would say your load is comparable to what I get with 95 grain bullets. Give me a PM and I let you know the specifics.

I just ordered some Magtech 95gr FMJ to try for practice and also some Remington 88gr JHP to test for reliability in case the factory defense ammo I have to test won't work 100%. Not a high tech bullet but it'll frequently function in cranky guns (like mine) when others won't. I reckon at anything over 1,000 fps ought to get it done, what do you think Mike ?

Guess I should have mentioned I bought just the bullets and not loaded ammo, my bad !!

mAG TECH IS GOOD AMMO. never had one issue with it in 380 or 9mm. I buy it when ever I can find it right and that has not been lately.

Blew Cabela's Bucks on some Buffalo Bore 90gr JHP with that Gold Dot bullet, very nice round indeed. BB loads it to .9440" COL if that helps any. I can't get over how deep the cavity is in these bullets ! Hopefully they'll function in the gun ok.
