I hava a 1966 Ruger standard and the magazines are VERY difficult to remove.
I have removed the grips to eliminate their screws.
I have throughly cleaned the wells.
I have 17 magazines from the original (2), mostly Ruger M I/II, a few 3rd party. Not much difference.

Any sggestions??

MKI/11 mags will not fall free, they will drag on the mag latch!
Can anything be done to the latch or mags to correct this flaw?
The design is such that it purposely drags on the mag! If you were to shorten the latch the mag would not stay in place! A lighter mag release spring might help but would still drag on the mag!!

I determined that my main issue was that I could not put enough pressure on the mag release to fully disengage the mags.
I corrected this by driling and tapping a 4-40 hole near the fore end of the release then I spun a nut on a button head screw, covered it with epoxy and tightened it to the release. In essence making my own extende release for a few cents and a little elbo grease.
It now works great and easily drops the magazines although they still don't fall free I no longer struggle to get them out.
