I'm going to get a Ruger LCP although there's no particular rush.

What would be the pluses and minuses of buying either -

A retrofitted LCP pistol with the new hammer mechanism installed (serial number 370-xxxxx plus the diamond)

Or,

An LCP manufactured post-recall already incorporating the new hammer mechanism (serial number 371-xxxxx). Pistols with the “371” prefix were not affected by the recall.

Is there any difference?

Thanks.

I have not read anywhere that they have started producing any 371 serial # guns. It should be the same gun with the exception of the diamond.

From what I read from Ruger there will be no changes done when new production begins They said they will do away with the 370 serial number to avoid confusion. So anything with the 371 number will have the improved stuff done already. Any 370 number you may find in a gun shop, just look for the diamond in the hammer well.
