I am new for Ruger LCP, so want to ask some basic questions. Does the LCP have some sort of firing pin block, hammer block, etc? If the hammer fails and falls against the firing pin will the gun fire?
try going to the Ruger web site.
Look up LCP II
scroll to the bottom of the page
Select Secure Action Fire Control
The original LCP does not have this safety feature. If you look at the position of the hammer on the Original LCP after the slide is pulled back and a round is chambered, you will notice that the hammer is in the 1/2 cocked position. The idea here is that if the gun is dropped and the hammer falls the force of the hammer striking the firing pin is not enough to cause a discharge. Also, the trigger pull on tee original is about 12 lbs.
