Here's some grips I made for a couple of Ruger Standards w/A54 grip frames:



This panel is half of the set for a Ruger Standard A 100 grip frame:

They are profiled using a band saw, shaped with files and sand paper. Grip screw holes are done in my drill press. The wood is then sanded to #600 finish and then sealed with a clear sealer. Finish is hand rubbed into the wood, and then wet-sanded back until all the pores are completely filled and the top surface is dead flat and smooth. I want that done so my checkering tools don't hit any grain or pores and go off track.

My checkering tools are from W.E. Brownell, and were purchased well over 20 years ago. After he died, his business was sold to an East Indian firm who screwed up every tool they made including cutters:
