Picked it up at a local auction last night. Dont have my hands on it quite yet but will this week. Got it for $400, which I thought was a good deal. It is 1979 vintage according to the serial number and is in great condition with 3 mags.

You did good getting this one. Glad to see someone give this Mark I a good home. To me the Mark series is worth the effort to shoot and care for. They shoot well for me and congrats on getting this one. Let us know how it shoots for you.

Hello and Welcome to the RPF! Beautiful MkI T678...Congratulations!!

I have a 78' that also looks and shoots Great. I find the balance and accuracy with the Ruger wooden thumb rest grips greatly assist my POA! I'm sure you'll enjoy yours!

I have the MkIV Hunter that shoots very well, but do find the MkI T678 to be a little better balanced with a faster swing to POA!

Very nice find! It's not very often when A100 Ruger Mark I Targets are found in that nice condition, especially with the target thumb rest panels. I have one I'll not part with:

I also see that you have two of the Mark II style magazine bodies for your pistol. That's what I use in my two early Ruger pistols as they function much better than factory originals do, plus, you get an extra round in the magazines.

I have a Mark I like yours but does not have the writing on the barrel. Mine isn't in quite as good of shape but close. Same wooden grips, incredible pistol. How do you look up the year they were manufactured?
