New Smiley - In MY Forehead!

3365 Views 12 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  45longcolt
I have about 400 rounds through my LCP and I don't have it a month yet! Anyway, upon extraction cases fly everywhere and with authority. Yesterday at the range I got hit in the nose and it left a mark. Later I had some blood on my forehead and a cut that looked like a sideways smiley the size of a .380 case. Normally I'll wear a brimmed cap pulled down low to my glasses to avoid cases dropping behind my glasses, but it was cold so I wore a watch cap instead.

LOL
I'd feel lucky if I got hit by an ejected empty..... I can't even find mine. I spread out a blue 10x12 tarp, stood in the middle of it and it caught 1 casing. This was on short grass and I spent the next half hour scouring the ground in a 30 foot circle for the fly aways. I found 2 more. That was out of only 14 shots fired, but at this rate, I'll have to buy brass if I want to reload....

A frustrated reloader,

Dont feel bad, I had the same thing happen to me, ;D worse part is, im a bleeder, so the little nick bled like I got shot in the head. Good thing noone came to the range, they probably would think I some psycho maniac with a gun
just a suggestion, that can help some. go to gunsprings.com and order the 13# recoil set up for the kt 32, they will drop right in ur lcp. It will change the distance.. I have um in mine and they give no issues and have IMO shortened the distance. I don't reload, so I really cold care less, but instead of flying out of your chamber at 90mph, probalby down to 60 mph, if you get my point.

Mine usually fly over my head and land about six to eight feet behind me.
Mine go all over as well. One time at the range I got hit in the forehead, but of course it is no big deal.

THEN, during my CHL TEST, I get hit right between the eyes and it got caught behind my glasses. Fortunately I knew exactly what happened and immediately pulled my glasses about an inch away from my face, letting the hot casing drop.

This little gun is deadly, I tell you! ;D
another reason why I tried the 13# recoil springs from wolffs gunsprings.
Jocko I know you have mentioned the #13 KT springs before. What I do not understand is why they would make this for a 32ACP and not for a 380ACP. I understand from your previous posts here and elsewhere that they fit. Do they cut down much on the felt recoil?

Honestly not that I could feel the difference. I just never considered the 380 kt or lcp's bad guns to shoot. I enjoyed shooting the hell out of my 380. the 13# springs in the 32 kt and yet wolffs never made one poundage spring for the kt 380 is baffling to all kt owners to. It is not the panacea to all problems but it will drop the brass closer, so IMO it is a reduction in recoil. They wokred ok in my kt's for years and also in my lcp, thats all i can tell you. I am not defending or offending those 13# springs either. They won't break your gun that is for sure..
I just ordered mine. The design of the Ruger springs are weak at best. Not the strength just the design. I'll post when I get to shoot them.
Aha! THIS is why Ruger sent me a ballcap after the recall ;D

I went and bought a metal detector to try and find my brass. It worked "too" good! I had forgotten about all the trash and shotgun hulls and AK steel cases that have been pushed into the ground at my lease. I couldn't move that sucker 6" without it going off on something other than what I was looking for. These little cases always seem to land base down and stay that way making them even harder to find. Last Saturday the grass was basically all brown and gone and beat down. I was able to find almost ALL of my cases. I had a spotter to show me the area each type of round would go to. I have noticed different speed rounds, different distances and directions of flight of the cases. :)
