Found this forum while searching the web for information about the LCP. Just picked up an LCP and when I went to insert the first loaded mag into the pistol, I found out that the firing pin was stuck out in the extended position. So I guess I'll contact ruger on Monday and go from there. My wife has a Kel-tec, but I liked the feel of the LCP better.
My wife works in Corrections and Adult Probation, so naturally we don't go too many places w/o some "protection" because some of her "clients" do hold grudges! I'm a retired fire chief, however started my public safety career as a police officer. I now work a post retirement job as a fire warden (deals w/ wildland fire, primarily coordinating between federal, state and local resources on wildland fire issues).
My favorite auto's are my Smith 10mm's, I'll actually carry one as my CCW on several occasions. Otherwise I carry a 40. I only carry because the wife sometimes like to go "lite".
This LCP is obviously at the extreme opposite end of the spectrum as my 10mm's, but there are times a small pistol is the only option, hence the purchase of the LCP.
Our whole family likes shooting, and one of our family traditions is that the kids got a Ruger 10/22 on their 14th birthday. (Now the older daughter has progressed to wanting her own AR!).
Other activities the wife and I like to do is motorcycle riding, I have a Honda GL1800 and the wife has a Yamaha V-star 1100.
Now that I introduced myself, I look forward to learning from the forum members. I belong to a few other forums and I use the same ID on all of them.
