do u have any idea as to just WHY????MNBud said:Don't quote me because I cannot see mine either but I believe it is placed horizontally in the movable latch. If you have a bright enough light it doed appear that there is a hole drilled in the end of the catch and this is what has been protruding and catching the follower in the magazine on some pistols.
Trying to upload photos, but I get a message that says "upload folder is full".P7 said:mrjeep94: I'd very much like to see a photo. Thanks,

Jocko, I have read it somewhere and I can only assume it was on here that the pin was installed for strength do to the fact that the catch was plastic. There are just too many postings about mags falling out and followers hanging up that I can't seem to find the post that stated what it was there for.jocko said:do u have any idea as to just WHY????MNBud said:Don't quote me because I cannot see mine either but I believe it is placed horizontally in the movable latch. Would it be possible to get a picture of his pistol with the pin installed so we can all get a clearer idea of what we are dealing with. Did he notify Ruger that he was having magazine problems when he sent his in. I'm having a hard time believing that Ruger is randomly doing this during the recall.I'm certain there have been posters here having these issue now (pins dragging on followers, having to push release in to insert magazine)that they didn't have prior.davis_b_1 said:I did NOT get the pin inserted in my gun, when I got to work the guy who sits next to me got his gun back today so I looked at it and his has one, so I now know what I am looking for and mine clearly don't have one. With all the problems everybody is having with the pin I think I am glad that Ruger didn't install one in my gun since I have never had the mag pop out on me I am not going to worry about it untill it becomes a problem.
For those wondering what the latch roll pin looks like and whether you have this addition, here are pictures. Taken with a dental mirror through the bottom of the magazine well. The pistol is already darn small, so the roll pin is tiny and difficult to see. First is a perspective shot, then a close-up of the pin on the inside edge of the magazine catch. The roll pin is on the pistol's right, as seen in the reflection in the dental mirror. The reflection shows the end of the mag catch that is facing the left side of the magazine well.Would it be possible to get a picture of his pistol with the pin installed so we can all get a clearer idea of what we are dealing with.
