I don't have time to look through all of the posts concerning magazine problems. So I don't know if this has been answered many times or not.

I haven't had the time to test out the gun at the range. But in putting the magazine in the gun - I find that there is a little "play" in it when seated. It moves around a little - doesn't fit very tightly.

Might be snugger with rounds in it, we'll see. Just asking if that's the way it's suppose to fit.

It doesn't fall out or anything - just the loosness I'm asking about.

NORMAL??? How many other semi autos do you have with magazines that rattle around like the LCP's magazine???
I thought he said "alittle play" in it when seated. not rattling around. If one wants his magazine to indeed pop out upon ejection, then there has to be some "little play" in there. If it goes bang, don't worry about it, if you want to tighten it up, some have applied some tape to the sides of the magazine but then you will have to pull ur magazine out.

My lcp has some play in it, so does my kahrs, both of them. I just think this is an issue worth getting concerned about... all 3 of my kt's had some play in the magazines,

Keep in mind that not all guns are the same. If that were the case, you would only have one gun to buy. With different designs come different characteristics.

My LCP? Slide rattles a bit when shook side to side, trigger doesn't feel at all refined, mag shakes a bit in the mag well, It's acceptable accuracy is being severely pushed at 25 meters...

AK-47/AKM? Entire bolt assembly rattles like a box of loose parts (often times even when in battery), top cover is made of cheap thin, stamped steal and only held in place by a small push button, trigger is nothing short of horrible, sights are poorly designed and show a graduation significantly further than the 250m realistic expectation of (marginal) accuracy...

See the point? Just because something feels cheap (and don't forget, at $275-$330... the LCP is CHEAP; both in price and construction), doesn't mean anything is wrong with it. Of course, this isn't to say the LCP is Kalashnikov reliable.

If you wanted something with premier fit, finish and construction, you shouldn't have been so cheap. Champagne taste on a beer budget... you still get beer (but hey, no doubt beer is tasty!).

Thanks to all on this topic. I have been waiting until after the recall to buy an LCP for CCW and just picked mine up yesterday. I have not been to the range yet, but the loose magazine fit was an immediate concern when I got the pistol home. It looked like a feed problem waiting to happen. I'll run a few clips and report back.

I just returned from the range after having shot 50 rounds of WWB 95Gr. and it worked like a charm. Once the mag is loaded and pushed in by thumb, it clicks in tight and does not rattle. It's a 371 prefix LCP with the test shot in the box done on Jan. 9. Paid $269.95.

Just as an observation, my other pistol is a CZP-01 9mm, well regarded for its comfortable grips. Comparing both, I found the LCP very controllable with a two handed grip, keeping a firm middle finger under the trigger guard. Not jumpy or slippery as some of the bloggers report.

Thanks for the follow-up Jocko...

Your loose mag fit should not be a problem. Mine has quiet a bit of rattle when inserted in the mag-well and has always functioned at 100%. You don't want an extremely tight fit or the mag will not drop free on its own when the release button is depressed. If it fit tightly you would have to pull it from the mag-well which slows down the reloading process. This is something you don't want to have to do, especially during a fire fight! Don't worry about the loose fit causing malfunctions. You must have never seen how an AK-47 mag fits in the gun. Most rattle like crazy but the guns are EXTREMELY reliable!
