Sent mine in for recall and it came back with the old springs. I emailed Ruger to see if they the springs should have been upgraded and they said that they don't change the springs unless you tell them there is a problem with the old springs when you send it in for recall.

Mine came with the large end of the inner spring toward the "head" of the guide rod, towards the handle end of the gun. I shot 50 rounds on the first time out with no problems. Then another 100 on the second time out with FTF about 70% of the time. I had to tap the heel of slide with my off hand to get it to feed. I had plenty of grease on the rails from it's prefiring inspection and cleaning. I hope the gun is just breaking in and not a lemon. I hate buying new stuff that's broken out of the box.

When I cleaned it after the second round of shooting, I noticed a lot of build-up of copper or whatever the Remington UMC FMJ ball ammo is coated with on the feed ramp. I always hit the feed ramp and breech with a brass tooth brush. Does Remington use a soft lead bullet? I've heard many other people grousing about UMC ammo on other forums but that's all I would find in town.

I also found that the large end of the inner spring had worked over the head of the guide rod. Can it hit the sides of the slide? I didn't see any wear marks I didn't expect to see.

380 ammo in Albuquerque is non-existent in any gun store, Wallies, etc. at this time. I guess those 87k LCPs Ruger sold hit the ammo shelves like a ton of bricks, lol. I have some on Sellier & Bellot FMJ, some Golden Sabers and Some Critical Defence on order. If I still have FTF issues, I wonder if the KT springs would help.

Mine came back installed backwards too.

I have a suinappropriateion that the people making the recall changes were NOT actual techs but a bunch of people trained specifically, to make the changes.... just a thought.
I just noticed this and it's too late to modify my post. I don't know what happened, but I typed "s u s p i c i o n" in my original post, but it was somehow automatically changed to "suinappropriateion" . Apparently, that word is "inappropriate" on this forum.

I had the same problem a couple weeks ago, trying to type s-p-i-c-e-s I let the mods know about it but maybe they couldn't do anything about it or forgot.

I think what it picked up on would be what's between the "S U" and the "I O N"... Or in more blunt terms... "$PIC"... offensive, non-pc slang for a person of hispanic decent. Why it cued into the middle of your word... I have no idea... lets test...

Well there you have it:  It would appear they are cuing into "$pic"... it blotted it out in the first word, then the second word was just "$pic"... got that one too.

Seems like a programing error or something that it would pull it right out of a perfectly acceptable word.

Back to your regular programing...

Hey.... I know... Let's all try every "slang" word we can come up with to see if it picks them all up. >>>>>>> ;D Just kidding. Let's not, this place would be closed down for sure, but I'd be interested in knowing if they'd catch all of them.

Well, I have done some experimenting with George's word list ( I can do that, perks of being a mod ;) ) and the potty mouth filter does a pretty darn good job.....I think it's just a little to aggressive....

Whomever you spoke to is wrong! Mine went to Ruger with an inner spring that would pass through the outer spring and it came back with a belled inner spring. This end was toward the muzzle end.

The people at Ruger must not like me. I emailed them and called twice to ask why my springs were not upgraded to the new ones and was told each time that they did not upgrade to the new spring unless you state that you had a problem with them when you send your gun for recall.

Heh, just call them and order about 4 sets and u will be good to go for years. Won't break u either. Why some got new ones and some didn't is tough to answer, but not worht worrying abot either...

Mine also came back with the old (non-flared) springs. I sent an email questioning this yesterday and am still waiting for a reply. (Will resend tonight if still no answer)

But, the new parts list and assembly diagram that came back with the recall return clearly show the flared inner spring. Why show it if they're not changing them all? ???
