I took a good look at my springs last night and I can't see any difference in the inner spring ends - both ends look like the same diameter. Is this a difference that you'd need a set of dial calipers to detect?

I also looked at the LCP manual disassembly / reassembly procedure, and spring orientation is not mentioned.

Can anyone post a picture that shows the spring end differences?

Today I got my second LCP, and guess what? It has the new spring set with the inner spring flared on one end. This was installed with the flared end forward in the slide housing. For reference, the old and new spring sets are in the photo. Outer springs look the same. Interestingly, the older straight inner spring is more tightly wound with 2 more coils than the new flared version as I count them.

Why the change I wonder?

Old set came from Serial # 370-195XX, test fired on 6/10/08
New set came from Serial # 370-541XX, test fired 9/15/08

New set is on the right, respective.
