LCP & Hornady Custom Ammo

Had the chance to shoot the little LCP today. The weather was 73 degrees, partly cloudy and the wind was 15 mph gusting to 23 - out of the southeast. I was shooting directly west so I had a slight cross wind.
I ran 100 rounds of WINCHESTER 380 95 gr. Full Metal Jacket Q4206 down the barrel with zero malfunctions. I then switched to HORNADY Ammunition CUSTOM 380 Auto 90 gr. JHP/XTP #90102 The Hornady ran without any problems. I’ll post a target shot unsupported single handed at a distance of 15 yards. This little handgun really likes the Hornady. These 6 rounds were fired in a rapid fire fashion.

My question to fellow member of the forum is - What ammunition doesn’t this little handgun like?

congratulations!!!! not bad shooting for 15 yards out of that pocket rocket!!!!!!!

IMHO, it seems that the lcp is ammo specific according to each individual gun. for example, mine runs the best with Remington fmj Remington golden sabers and corbon 90 gr. it shot the hornady OK but just didn't seem to favor them, i have put alot of different brands and types with no problems except the hornadys. it even like the Winchester white box fmj. to be fair, i have only shot 1 box of hornadys, so i guess time will tell if it likes them or not. i haven't tried american eagle but if you read the posts it seems as if it runs a little dirty, so some people have had problems with it.

I'll see if I can locate some Remington - fmj & Remington golden sabers. I'm lucky since I have a pistol range on the property.

i spent about 100-150 dollars trying different brands, just wished i tried the golden sabers first. i could have saved some money. oh, well!!!!!

my carry load is a variety of alternate between golden sabers hp and fmj's.

i bought the lcp for fun and not carry so just though i would clarify. that is what my g36 is for.

i have started to notice that it is easier to just carry the lcp than the g36 ,but then again lets be honest it is what it is better than nothing when i can't carry the g36-- which is rarely.

Just remember, my gun loves golden sabers ,but yours may not. IMO, these guns are ammo specific per individual basis.

The Glock 36 is one of my favorites. I'm also a fan of the Glock 33. But I'm getting old and somewhat lazy to carry a heavy pistol all day long. I have a Glock 28 but I even find that to be too heavy. Considering it's the same size of the 26. I just like the size of the LCP for those trips while OD.

has anyone seen the hornady critical defense rounds for sale? they have a rubber tip in side the hollow cavity. I am reffering to the ones in guns and ammo magazine and used in the tv show with the lcp. Forgive me if the answer has already been posted

Hey RugerGuy
I just recieved my December issue of Guns and Ammo. One of the articles gives the ballistic results of the Critical Defense Ammo from Hornady as fired in the LCP. I wanted to put the whole article here, but think that might be a copyright infringement. I tried to find it on their website, but they haven't uploaded it yet...

I liked what I have read about the Hornday Critical Defense ammo. It is made for both the .380 and the 9mm. I have not been able to locate any at this time but have been told that Cabellas has it. If anyone has fired this ammo, please let us know how it performed.
