Any idea when the LCP will begin appearing at the dealers again? I am guessing they are so tied up with the recall it may be a while?

I've been told, but am unable to confirm, that parts and sub assemblies continue production pending arrival of revised parts. That as soon as the new parts arrive final assembly of LCP's will resume simultaneous with processing recalls.

We should know shortly.
I spent about half an hour calling many of the FFLs within a two hour drive of Albuquerque, NM yesterday. Not one has a LCP. Several thought my request was pretty funny. I do not believe that Ruger is still shipping any LCPs to any one. A couple of dealers said that if this recall is like that of the SR9, we will not see new guns on the shelves until January.

I need a mouse gun for my wife for Christmas. I may have to go with a Kel-Tec P3AT just to have something to put under the tree. That's a real shame. Obama + Christmas season. Ruger is leaving a lot of money on the table with this recall.

Good timing, Ruger.

just hold off, , don't buy her the kt 380 .
I just got off the phone with a nice lady at Ruger in Phoenix. She said the 371 S/N prefix should start shipping next week, the first week of December. Hooray!

I definitely agree with Jacko on this.

Get the wife something from the online store. Get her one of the Ruger extended magazines - you're gonna want one or two eventually anyway. Maybe get a nice box of practice ammo or maybe a few boxes of various brands of self defense ammo.

If you're flush, you could go all out and send for a laser for the LCP and even order up a nice holster that'll fit the LCP just right.

Put a few glossy pictures from the Ruger catalog in the box, wrap it all up with a bright bow - and you're good to go. She'll be eagerly watching along with you for the next guns to hit the shelves.

You'll have an extra set of eyes watching the gun stores and it'll be a wonderful time of bonding. ;D

What a wonderful idea! I bet you and your wife get along great together! :D

I have to agree, about the keltec. If you must buy a mouse gun you could buy a NAA .380 now, and purchase the LCP later. Just a thought.

Update....on my situation. I called a local dealer that I usually stay away from(due to his really high prices). He claimed he could have me one in a week for $325. Since it's only $25 more than I expected to pay anyway, I will call him back next Tuesday and call his bluff. Who knows, just my get it before christmas!
I was at a gun show this weekend. A very large dealer had 5 LCP's which had the recall diamond mark. He told me these were new shippment guns.
They were also marked 370, but with a slash line through the 0. These must be existing frames or something. Anyway guns are moving again. BTW the guy had these marked $499, what a *****.
I called Ruger on wednesday and the lady said my box will be in the mail on monday.

My LCP has the slash through the 0, and has not been sent back, I think the only way to tell if the recall has been done to a 370 s/n is the diamond stamp.
That's intresting. I was wondering this same question when they will be up for grabs again. Hope some of ya'll will let us know. Glad to hear Ruger will be shipping out sometime this month. I've gave the hint pretty good about getting the LCP for Christmas. hehe.
Just got home from the LGS, and apparently the Ruger rep had just been in. He told them that production on the new LCP's would not begin until March '09.
Man that sux!! I just had the local gun shop guy place 1 on order...guess he wont be getting any of the 3 he said he ordered! :'(

That's what I heard also, Preacher. The shops I am in contact with all said probably an April gun for me. All has standing orders some more than others. All want to sell me Kel-Tecs.
There is something in this story about no availability until Q1 next year that does not compute. The factory is producing new units now. I don't know how the recall affects production quantities because of personnel limitations. I can believe that "new" orders will not be fulfilled until next year, but the current production has to be going somewhere.
Could it be that the reps are giving the song and dance that upper management is requiring to cut down on having to deal with the same kind of hype that Ruger went through when they announced the target date for the original LCP release? Under promise and overdeliver tends to make for a better experience for the customer. Just a thought.
