Hi, I'm new to the forum tho I have owned Rugers for 40+ years. So I dissassembled my hammer-fired LC9 and installed a new oem external thumb saftey. Very simple process. Yet when I reassembled the frame insert into the frame the slide and trigger are "locked up". Magazine in or oout doent change anything. I,ve double checked the factory frame trigger lock with the key.

Ive searched the internet and there are no help videos on Ruger.com.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong? The slide does run prior to frame insertion. Something is catching and jamming.

Thanks unka-Dave

Welcome to the forum. In ref. to your question/problem, I had a similar situation upon reassembling my LC9s. The spring/quide rod had slipped off the small ledge on the barrel when reinstalling. The slide and trigger were locked as you are describing. It was a bear getting the quide rod and spring loose enough to allow being able to free-up the slide and get the thing apart again.......have no idea if this is what has happened in your case, but sounds similar. Let us know how things go.

I now have the pistol assembled but the hammer, trigger and thumb safety are not working. I have a spent round in the magazine and chamber. The loaded chamber indicator is properly engaged. The slide is functioning. I have the hammer spring hooked up. Something is wrong in the trigger/safter assembly area.

I could use a detailed trigger assmbly instruction pdf or video I think.

I want to clarify that the slide now works but doesnt appear to engage the trigger. The trigger pulls with no resistance and does not engage the hammer. Thumb saftey locked in fire position. Magazine is inserted with spent shell in chamber.

What the hell...I must have the trigger screwed up?

Thanks for finding the video pennsy....I did the mag saftey removal with my gunsmith and I think he mentioned the frame pins are slightly tapered and need to be tapped out r. to l. and reinserted l. to r. (or was it opposite?). The pins are slightly tapered, so large end should come out first and go back in last. You mechanically inclined guys can set this straight.

LCP pins come out right to left and go in opposite . I would guess LC9 pins are the same but can't be sure. I was just trying to find a LC9 video for OP. Hope it adds some insight to his problem . I took my Yamaha 250 Big Bear Scrambler apart as a kid once and had to bring it to a dealer in pieces to reassemble for me. I know the feeling.:)

I did the same on the steering column of my wife's car 35 years ago when we were engaged. Trying to fix her blinker. Shamefully had to have it towed to the dealership to reassemble. But, she married me anyway.

I just wanted to mention that the video was well done, except for the "pin part".

pennsy, you hit the nail on the head...the very end of this video refers to the resetting of the latch mecanism just prior to final seating of rear of slide. No where in the manual or any where else is it ever mentioned. It was actually easy to perform. I had seen the latch laying along the inside of the handle when frame was removed frame the handle body. I ASSUMED it reseated itself when the frames was seated during reassemble with the "trigger end inserted first and the rear seated at an angle." Boy was I wrong. Saw it, knew it was the stinker but did not have proper instructions. YOUR THE BEST!
