My closest public range is a nice new indoor facility (rains a lot here). They charge a flat fee of $10 that allows you to shoot until you get tired.

I am a member of a private organization that has an outdoor pistol and shotgun range. For low yearly dues, I have a key that gets my in the gate to shoot as much and for how long I want or can afford. :)

I shoot in Asheville, NC, about two hours from my house. It isn't the closest range (there's another an hour and a half away), but it's comfortable, and the folks who run it do a great job.

Indoor range, $6/30 minutes without a membership, $3/30 minutes with a reasonable membership fee. You can buy your ammo there (they sell new and reloaded ammo), or bring your own. You can also bring your own targets, or purchase them there, at prices that can't be much more than their cost. They also have a full service gun shop with a nice selection, and offer gunsmith services as well. All in all, I'm not sure I could find a better place to shoot.

Well, I guess I get the prize for great range deals - the pistol club I belong to in Syracuse NY has indoor and outdoor ranges, dues are less than $100 per year, I get full access to shoot indoors from morning til 10 pm each day, plus targets at no additional charge. O yeah!

Two popular indoor ranges: Range USA and Range Master.

Both are around $13 an hour, but unless they are very, very busy, they are not "clock watchers".

Range USA has the better facility, two ranges, resturant, simulator - good training - "Specials" during the week. Memberships available which reduces the range fees + other "perks".

But Ranger Master has it's "following" as well. Both have IDPA nights (RangeUSA - Tuesdays, RM - Fridays)

======

Oudoor range - MSSA - Memphis Shooting Sports Ass'n - 100 yard rifle range, 600 yard rifle, skeet, trap, sporting clays, several action pistol ranges, + more. Generally requires a membership, which is not cheap. Non-member IDPA twice a month.

$10 an hour for the Wake County, NC range. I think there is an annual membership deal too but I haven't bothered with it because I get a fair amount of free hours by bringing new members and I only shoot about once a month.

Daytona Beach, county owned range, just discovered last week. $5 all day, with monthly and annual memberships as well. Outdoor, many stations, allow rifles and all caliber handguns. Bring your own targets, from 7 to 100 yards. Well maintained, covered, range master runs a good line. Allows reloads. About 1.5 hours away, but good bike ride in good weather.

I feel lucky when I read about all you guys who have long rides to the range. I almost feel guilty telling you I've got one indoor range 3 miles from the house (Matthews, NC) and another indoor range 5 miles from the house (Monroe, NC).Both are owned by the same guy and charge $12.00/half hour. There's another range about 25 miles from me in Belmont, NC. Way too far to travel ;). Not sure how much they charge.

I haven't said anything as not to make others jealous but I have an indoor range/full gun shop less than 1 mile from my office. $20 hour all pistols and 100 yard rifle. I prefer to shoot outside so I've never tried it out.

I'm going to be a jerk here and tell you about my secret gravel pit....20 minutes away, 150 yards from end to end. $0 an hour, open from dawn till dusk, never a crowd. I have taken a lunch with me and have spent the entire day shooting there...ok, anyone jealous? :D

:D There are some advantages to living in Idaho Rob. Still a lot of open spaces and some decent hard working women (although I have run into more not so decent women before I found my wife ). And just when you are probably thinking this can't get anymore ******* I have to tell you, I met my wife at the shooting range, she was picking off coffee cans @ 100 yards with her Ruger Blackhawk, one handed yet! I'm not kidding....not a woman to piss off

We have a out door range 10 miles from my house. 2 rifle or pistol, 2
shotgun ranges. Archery range and fishing pond. Have to take own
target and target stands. Cost $75 a year you can use the range
any time you want to. Also have a club house that you can use.
We put target stands up but they didn't last.

Get over it...$30 an hour here unless you are a "member". Now there is a really, first class state outdoor range about 15 minutes but don't really like to shoot in the snow.

I am a member at our rifle/gun club here in Spokane. Dues are 100.00 per year and there is both indoor and outdoor pistol ranges. There are several rifle ranges, as well as, trap shooting. The club is ran very well and the folks are always pleasant to work with. It takes me twenty minutes to get there from my home. I would love to find a place outdoors on state land, but I have not had the time to search. There is one other indoor range that charges 20.00 per day, but things are ran way too tight. In my experience, not a friendly place to shoot.
