Fired another 100 rds yesterday (total about 250 so far) with one jam- a failure to extract. Anyway, when cleaning, I noticed the recoil spring guide rod had some peening. Is this a usual problem? Seems like it shouldn't be happening. Ammo has been assorted FMJ rounds, no +P stuff.

Davekp,
Can you give us more detail on the peening? Is this occurring on the breech end or on the muzzle end of the rod? Has yours been back for the recall and does your inner spring have a flare on one end, will it pass completely through the outer spring? Can you post pictures?

The peening is on the edge of the flared end- looks like where it sits in the cutout in the barrel. Can't take any pics because I sent it back to Ruger to fix a defective extractor. Post recal but a 370 (with diamond stamp).
