Privately held uncoded ammunition to be destroyed by 2011

http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/6583

The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacturer in a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.
Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every
round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!
If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!
This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.
To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to:

I am concerned. I am watchful. I am not panicked.

Few, if any of these bills have any chance of passing at the moment. The reason for bring them up as a bill is political payment for political support. The politicians get money and other support from the people promoting this legislation. Now the legislatures have to pay back. This in turn benefits the people promoting the legislation as they now can brag to their supporters how successful they have been and raise more money. Now they can give more money to the politicians and the politicians will introduce more legislation. And the beat goes on.

This does not mean that one day a tipping point might be reached and there may be a serious chance of the legislation succeeding. Therefore, be watchful, but not yet panicked.

Common knowledge in the political world is 40% of firearm owners do not vote. Why? Because "Why is my one vote important?" or were too lazy to quit work early and go vote or we just like to bitch. Either case we are in deep stuff for the next 4 years and now we must start organizing for the next election cycle.

I sent them an email making fun of their idea at [email protected]
It was returned because of a full mail box. I just thought I would share.

"I am a victim of gun crime, that is illegal legislation against my guns and ammunition, which violate my constitutional right to bear arms without infringement.
Alternatively, I would be interested in putting serial numbers on spoons. Since humans are not responsible for their actions and it is actually the devices themselves that are hurting people, I can only conclude that the many spoons I have used throughout my life have made me fat. I assume you understand this logic, so could you help me find the culprit spoon so I can hold it responsible. What do you think about an all out ban on spoons?"

I wrote a challenge about coming up with actions items. A good place to start is the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action http://www.nraila.org/ActionCenter/.

In addition, I decided I should take the first step so I did some additional research for everyone's amusement and education. Here are some references to the technology, the legislation, the inventor and other stuff related to ammunition encoding.

NRA radio interview with the inventor: http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?id=227
This is around 40 minutes. I'm amazed I stuck it out. The inventor is so clueless about manufacturing it is frightening. That politicians would try to pass legislation based on this guy's claims is ... (no proper adjective comes to mind).

Even more fun is available. There is also proposed legislation that will require the firing pins of guns be "micro engraved" so that the act of firing a cartridge would stamp the gun's ID on the cartridge. I wonder how long it would take for people to figure out a little polishing of the firing pin or striker face would change the results.

I don’t know where to begin on this one but I just hope everyone here realizes how absolutely ridiculous this idea is. I may waste my time and email them a few questions as a concerned citizen.
there is so much info about this available (thanks for the Links Howard) I hope our Legislators realize what a hoax it is.

...and I was having such a nice lunch, reading the posts......
