Hi folks, new to this forum. I own a P89 and have never had a problem. It's very reliable but only use it for home defense or when camping due to it's size and weight.

Just purchased a EC9S for CCW. The blued version was on sale for 259.99 but I went for the cement grey for 299.99.

Academy Sports has a no trigger pull rule in store which in retrospect is silly since you are at the mercy of a no return policy for a 300.00 purchase, so I was unable to test the trigger pull. Went straight home and field stripped the pistol and oiled it up and reassembled. When practicing drawing and dry firing any slight side pressure causes the safety trigger to hang and not allow it to fire. Your finger has to be a dead on straight pull for it to fire.

Took it back to Academy same day and they are sending to Ruger for evaluation since you can't return. Ruger Customer Service says this is by design but I argued that a trigger that won't fire is dangerous when your life is on the line and in a stressful situation. Two employees there have or have had the same pistol and stated they had not had this problem. The other two they had in stock did the same thing. I hope I haven't spent 300.00 On a badly designed firearm. Hoping it's just a bad run which is also concerning since there could be other quality issues down the road.

I Looked at many reviews b4 purchasing and can't find any complaints specific to this issue. In my opinion, if you pull a trigger the gun should fire as long as the manual safety is disengaged. That's what the manual safety is for.

If this issue can't be resolved I would either have to have a new trigger installed (Aegis maybe?) which I would not like due to waranty hassles or, trade the gun for somthing else and lose money. Any thoughts you have would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have a similar history to yours.
I have had a P89 for 33 years and purchased a LC9s for concealed carry. I have the Aegis trigger, which seems to have resolved the scissor/pinch/bite of the original trigger.
It's not a SA/DA, metal frame tank. But it has been problem free, accurate, and the two pounds difference in weight and reduction in size makes it easy to carry.

Sorry to hear that yours is having issues, but I think Ruger will solve the trigger problem for you, and you should be good to go.
