I agree Denny. There's no doubt about the law. It's a bit of a double edged sword. There's legislation currently in process in TN about when and where permit holders can and can't carry in state/city parks and one of the arguments is that law abiding permit holders are denied the right to protect themselves in those areas under the current regulations and also are often times ill informed due to state and city ordinances/restrictions.
The Colorado legislature took care of a similar situation by passing comprehensive, and generally fair, concealed handgun laws that void all other, lesser local laws and restrictions. Cleaned up a big mess.

Used to be involved in ministry in my old church but we have since left and pretty much all we've known and now have been ostracized from family and friends in CA, so while I try to get my head on straight I'm looking for the complete apposite of what I believed before, seeking a good Trinitarian church have been to a few but nothing has become home yet.. the one I frequent most had a no open carry sticker on the door, so their okay with concealed and that's what I do, perfect time for elsie to come get a blessing....

take care,
Rob

In Washington, I did. I haven't gone to church in Utah yet, but my understanding is that the LDS church has made carry in their buildings illegal. Guess I'll just have to die with the rest of God's sheep if a wolf comes to the door.

But do you honestly think I'd be the type to just roll over and die? You know me better than that!
I realize this is two years old, but you are correct. I'm here in Utah and the LDS church does indeed prohibit carry in their church buildings. Per Utah law, it is legal that they do so since they have given "official notice" to the state or whatever.

But what they don't know don't kill them...

Hi All,
In Kansas, it "was" not legal to carry a gun in church (Kansas laws have morphed a whole bunch in the last six months); maybe now you can... at any rate, I do carry in some fashion.
Did any of you happen to see an episode of the TV series "The Vikings", where the Vikes had come on shore in England somewhere and it just happens to be a Sabbath Day?? Most everyone in the village has gone to services that morning... with all their swords, spears, shields, bows, etc, stacked outside the church entrance. Of course, when the Vikings saw that, they just grinned... they knew what easy pickings they were going to have.
Seems the same would hold true today... NO?

We have just started attending a new church and I found out through the introduction classes offered that the pastor put together an armed security team for every Sunday. I was very pleased to find that out considering I have 3 small children in Sunday school during church. I go packin as well. All this came about after that attack at a church in Colorado years back

For the same reason many of my fellow Jews feel like fish in a barrel at our services and choose to carry, I feel it's only a matter of time before some ISIS lone wolf walks into a Church and goes for a mass killing.

I have no idea what our Temple's policy is, it's a non issue to me.

It's a different world, do the right thing, carry in Church.

I have carried a CCW for years. A LCP or an LC9 in an ankle holster. My church congregation includes several law enforcement officers, including myself. As far as I know, I'm the only one who carries in church. The Pastor, an ex-school teacher, has a very realistic view of the world. As long as my LCP is concealed, he has no problem with me being armed.

A church is one of those places where a bad guy can go and reasonably expect no armed resistance. A case in point happened Wednesday night in Charleston, South Carolina. If one good guy (or girl) had had a legally carried CCW, nine very good people might be alive.
