NPR.org said:
The Supreme Court's ruling this summer that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to bear arms has added fuel to the ongoing national debate about guns. Recently, a panel of six experts took on the proposition "Guns Reduce Crime" in an Intelligence Squared U.S. debate.

The series is based on a program that began in London in 2002. It pits experts on either side of an issue against each other in Oxford-style debates.

At the beginning of the Oct. 28 debate, moderated by John Donvan of ABC News, 13 percent of the audience voted in favor of the motion, while 60 percent voted against; 27 percent were undecided. By the evening's conclusion, those voting in favor of the motion increased to 27 percent. However, 63 percent disagreed that "Guns Reduce Crime," and 10 percent were still undecided.

Those debating at Rockefeller University's Caspary Auditorium in New York City were:

FOR THE MOTION:

Stephen Halbrook, attorney for the National Rifle Association and author of The Founders' Second Amendment.

Gary Kleck, a professor in the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University and author of Targeting Guns: Firearms and Their Control.

John R. Lott, a senior research scientist at the University of Maryland and author of Freedomnomics: Why the Free Market Works and Other Half-Baked Theories Don't.

AGAINST THE MOTION:

John J. Donohue, the Leighton Homer Surbeck professor at Yale Law School.

Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign/Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

R. Gil Kerlikowske, Seattle chief of police.

An armed and responsible citizenry are made safe through vigilance from tyranny, regardless
if that tyranny comes from the actions of a two bit thug or an murderous government.

Throughout History , the worlds most hideous ruler's have first preached safety through
crime reduction, then safety by gun registration, and then finally safety through gun confiscation
.

It is a historical fact, the very one's that were supposed to save the people from the criminal element became the criminal element.

I bet ole Clints's mule would have to agree that it does.
his Guns have reduced crime in his favor!!!!!!!!

ONLY law abiding citens follow the rule of law. Therefore, criminals by nature know not what that means so, in reality they will never follow them.

Gun control laws only tie the hands of the responsible law abiding citizens to protect themselves and their way of life.

These laws neuter citizens leaving them helplessly vulnerable at the feet of murderous thugs that rape, and pillage their personhood, and the guaranteed rights that are bound in the letters of the Constitution of the United States of America.

Who are the enemies of those rights?

Their enemies are whom or what ever that wants to subvert the document that preserves their existence and the guns that defend its survival, whether it is lies without as in another nation, or if it is within from the very own government of which is instituted to operate on its behalf.

best regards,
x .
