[UPLCP]

I was wondering if anyone has had this issue and how they solved. I tried to load new hollowpoints into my LCP. The first round out of magazine jammed. The slide did not go all the way forward, stopping about a cm short. The slide will not move at all now. I was hoping someone has advice.

I would take the magizine out first, but remember it is loaded. Keep that thing in a safe direction.

Then proceed with trying to pull the slide back and let the round fall out. Somebody else will probley give you some better help.

I wish it was that simple . The slide is totally locked. Cannot move forward or back. I don't want to bang on it with a live round in the chamber. I called ruger but still no reply.

Hey UP, it sounds like the round you are using is to long for the chamber. Can you post a pic of the pistol? Is the round pretty much chambered, just the slide not fully into battery? What kind of ammo is it? I think the bullet is wedged into the rifling of the barrel. Slate has got it right, drop the mag and press the slide against something that won't move and push. You need to dislodge the bullet from the rifling.

I would take it to a licensed gun dealer who has the proper equipment to handle pretty much any gun related issue.

Most found out in the country are equipped to modify/engrave/scope/ and all

yup round to long, take a small wooden dowel and the top opening of the slide where the barrel breech is almost closed. Put the dowel on the back part of the slide in that breech area and give it a hard tap and it will clear itself.... Of course stand behind the gun and not in front of the barrel,but there should be no discharge..

Thanks for the help. It was that the round was too long and had contacted the rifling. A rep from Ruger said when I said it in for the drop safety they will add a new barrell with rifling slightly farther down. I don't have the ammo in front of me, but I do know they were Hornady hollow points. I'll reply later with the exact specs. Thanks for the help again.

I had this problem too. I found that the recoil spring was jammed on the guide rod and about a 1/8 of the small springs coil was visible at the front of the gun. I flaired out the small spring a bit and haven't had the problem yet. I have only cycled the gun by hand I haven't shot it yet. We'll see.
