LCP wins. ;D

Well, I took and passed my CHL course yesterday. It was about 12 hours in all, including range time and lunch. I used the LCP while the other 6 in my class shot larger handguns. They had pretty good groupings but the LCP did alright. I got 216/250, and they let me keep the target. I had 2 totally miss the "guy" and 3 hit in the '3' categrory. Rest were some 4s and lots of 5s. Overall I am happy but have plenty of room for improvement. I didn't do as good as I did at the practice range with the same target, but I think that was due to this being timed and kind of hurried. It made me nervous at least.

I also passed the CHL exam - 96/100. :) So I'm quite happy now..

Now the 60-180 day wait... yeeeehaw!! *rolleyes*

Yeah, although congrats really aren't that much in order. But thanks! While I may be the first TX CHL licensee to test WITH the LCP, it is not all that hard. There was this kid from Moscow there, a TX resident, and eligible, but he looked like he never fired a gun before. He also asked at lunch break about what kind of guns to buy, where to rent, etc.. And he passed, so I guess you really could even if you never fired a gun before. ???

One interesting anecdote - our instructor told us how cops miss something like 83% of their shots. While this is pretty bad, they do have good excuses, like moving targets, usually it's at night, etc.. But if you think about it, where do the other 83% of the bullets go? That's a huuuge background to think about.....

Shooting a person is a little different than paper ;) Lotta factors...they might be shooting BACK AT YOU! A lot of rounds are suppresive to keep the guy from advancing to your cover spot. Doesn't mean that 83% go flying 20ft overhead. Just means they could be logged in the door of the car, the light pole he's standing behind, etc....

Whether your instructor said it or not, you should not ::) unless you've been shot at while trying to aquire your target. He shouldn't be saying anything either unless he has actually shot at someone while they're willing to play the game.... ::)

Yeah, I hear you there. There are a lot of factors. My instructor I think was just saying this more in a joking manner, about why the CHL target is as big as it is. My instructor was a vietnam vet and worked with the FBI, DEA, and all sorts of agencies for the past several dozen years. Lots of it drug related, mostly in Miami. I think he said his wife even had a hit out on her one time until they resolved matters.. Scary to think what kind of life they led/lead. He has an indoor range in his house and a fully automatic 12-round shotgun, so he is cool in my book. ;D
