I've been cruising the web and found some fairly decent prices on the Desanti Super Fly, usually around $25. But, the shipping is a show-stopper at most places. I need need a $9.95 UPS or FEDEX charge for a package that weighs less than my wallet.

Has anyone found the best place to order one from?

Thanks in advance,

OK, Midway charges a $3.00 "handling" fee for orders under $25.00. This holster is one cent shy. The shipping was reasonable but that brings this holster to over $30.00. What a ripoff.

My respect for MidwayUSA just went way, way down. I thought that company had more class. I've run into the same ripoff buying motorcycle parts online (NOT). So, for $.01 they lose a sale to me and gain a grudge with a future customer, if I'm desperate, maybe. Can you imagine Sears charging extra for sales under $25.00 at the cash register, lol? "Sir, that will be an extra $3.00 because..." Yeah, right.

I was the guy on eBay with the $20.50 offer. Some jerk just out-bid me. That's as high as I'll go. It's getting to be the principal of the thing.

I think I'll just chill until January then see what's what. Nothing gets a merchant's attention like a closed wallet.

Good luck, Midway.

Sorry I misconstrued the handling fee for the shipping fee. I should slow down and read more carefully.

I also looked for a while when I bought mine. The first time I paid $31.00 total. When I wanted to upgrade to the model that accommodated the LaserGuard, I paid $28 total from Holsterwear via Ebay. I now recall I also passed on Midway because of the $3.00 handling charge.

Good luck.

I apologize myself. I'm not griping at you and I appreciate your reply to begin with. And I don't like being the Grinch at Christmas. But I don't like deceptive sales practices. Midway should put their sales policies on their home page so a person will know what they are dealing with before exploring their site.

On my first attempt to order, I also ordered ammo. They were out of the ammo but didn't tell me that until the order confirmation page. At that time, they were going to ship the holster for $9.95 (I think). Then ship the back ordered ammo when it came in for another $9.95. That's real nice of them. That's $19.90 shipping for a pocket holster and 50 rounds of ammo.

I noticed the handling fee only after making my second attempt to order just the $24.99 holster. The $3.00 handling showed up only on the last page of the order process.

MidwayUSA's confirmation page is where their Gottcha's live, lol. These are real nice guys to do business with (NOT).

Dan, you are not alone. I went through the same thing with Midway. As a result, I now order from Cabelas or Brownells whenever possible. The best course of action for everyone is to make Midway aware of your displeasure - if they want to retain/grow market share they better start listening - I was a loyal Midway customer for years but not anymore. Virtually everything they sell can be acquired elsewhere and in today's bad economy, folks are going to become very selective in where they shop. This is not an equity builder for Midway. What the heck, contact Midway customer service and provide them a link to this thread.

I used to be a good costumer of Midway. That was when they shipped free. Now I can buy local for about the same price or just a little more. Even with 9.5% sales tax it's not as high as their shipping. Midsouth has the best shipping it's what ups or fed ex charges.

Most seem to like the standard desantic nemesis over the super fly...JMO
