It is a shame . It doesn't have to be that way . All the disinformation out there is staring to take it's toll .
Ok Pennsy How about the Richmond Times? I am trying to find a source that you might find legitimate. Seems that no matter what the source, the only difference is the number can vary. Let me ask you a question. I find it laughable he released these poor felons who had done nothing but a petty crime right before the elections, just a coincidence.

"He also said he saw no need to distinguish between violent and nonviolent crimes."
pennsy, I wonder how you would feel if all those nice felons were released in your state or neighborhood. Also, what percentage of criminals make it back into the system? I will let you answer that one. McAuliffe has alway's been a big Clinton insider. His history with the Clintons goes way back. Read his history, you do the research and then you tell me. Thanks

You're right about demographics, Dave. I feel terrible that you have to live in a place where you constantly feel threatened by what's going on around you. If there were some way you could get away from the anxiety-producing hell-hole you live in, I'd encourage you to do that. Where I live, for example, people are generally pretty friendly and appear to care for one another. That's not to say that we don't have our share of bad guys. We do. In fact, the violent crime rate in my neck of the woods is three times that of Alexandria's, for instance. And yet I don't feel as if I have to watch my back every time I walk out my front door. Honestly, I'd pack up and leave this town if I had to live as mean a life as you appear to live. Good luck to you, my friend.

OK , a little better source . Still right leaning but at least it has a editor . I can not find any info concerning the number of released prisoners . Only restored voting rights to already released . I'm sure some were Rep . To not believe that is the same as pretending millions of illegal voters all voted Dem . Virginia was one of a small number of states that did not restore voting rights after serving their sentence . I do know that the drug laws were crafted with certain demographics in mind . Also social - economics come into play as far as who goes to jail for minor drug infractions . For instance , crack cocaine vs powder cocaine . A college kid caught with a joint vs a kid standing on a street corner . A public defender vs a daddy paid for attorney . As with everything , money talks . Again , I am not defending hardened criminals and I do believe they leave prison worse than they went in . Not all cities have it as bad as you describe Virginia Beach . NYC crime rates have been dropping for instance . Jobs , jobs , jobs . The mob has it's own responsibility to account for . They introduced the drugs into neighborhoods years ago . The problem exists , we have to figure a way forward . What do you suggest ?

Hey pennsy, I've got a movie for you to check out. It's a documentary film Michael Moorer produced in 2015 called "Where to Invade Next". The title is both stupid and tongue-in-cheek. But Michael's message is clear. America is the home of some of the most significant socio-economic principles mankind has yet developed. But America has been dismally poor at putting those principles into practice. So Michael took it upon himself to see if he could find places in other parts of the world where folks have implemented the principles they stole from us, find out how well they've done with them and if they've adopted them successfully, "invade" them and steal those principles back for the benefit of Americans. I won't give you my critique of the film. I'd just say it's worth a look.

Yep. Staying stuck in the past is always more comforting than having to face an uncertain future.

You see, here's my problem, dave. I'm an American first and a Democrat second. As an American, there's room in my world view for a disparity of opinion. But there is NO ROOM for those who would attack us and more importantly, Americans who would collude with them for personal gain. To my way of thinking, Americans of that stripe fall under a single heading . . . TRAITORS! We The People owe it to ourselves to investigate them unflinchingly and weed them out wherever we find them. And if they are found guilty, the penalty for their traitorous behavior should be severe.

Say what you will, but my eyes are fixed and focused. And they will NOT be deflected by you or anyone else until I know what the hell is going on in the Executive branch of our government. YMMV

Fellas, let's all stop the purely political stuff in the forums please. Try to keep things like badmouthing individuals or political parties out of the conversations. This thread has gone too far out of line several times so I've closed it.

Thanks.
